Pop-Christian author and speaker, Beth Moore, was kind enough to write an article titled Why I removed some of my commentary from a chapter of Praying God’s Word (July 6, 2019) wherein she notes, “When I wrote PGW [Praying God’s Word] many years ago, I exceeded Scripture and singled out same-sex sin as particularly satanic.”

Before we proceed to our Scripture-prayers for overcoming sexual strongholds, we are wise to address another deadly sexual assault of the evil one in our society: homosexuality.
I have wonderful news for anyone who has struggled with homosexual sin. God indeed can deliver you and anxiously awaits your full cooperation.
Do not let Satan shame you into not seeking forgiveness, fulness, and complete restoration in Jesus Christ. I know complete transformation is possible not only because God’s Word says so, but because I have witnessed it with my own eyes. I know plenty of believers who have been set free from homosexuality.
This was within the context of “overcoming sexual strongholds” about which we are told that “we are wise to address another deadly sexual assault of the evil one in our society” which is “homosexuality” and is “another” of various and about which she writes that she has “wonderful news” which is that “for anyone who has struggled with homosexual sin. God indeed can deliver you” and that “complete transformation is possible” for two reasons: 1) “God’s Word says so” and 2) “I have witnessed it with my own eyes” and has done so “plenty” of times that people who are now “believers…have been set free from homosexuality.”
Well, no, I already noted that she wrote of homosexuality “another” of that which she categorized as “deadly sexual assault of the evil one” so that homosexuality was in the same category as those others.
Another reason she removed it can be categorized as that it kept people from fully engaging her concept of Praying God’s Word—and thus, would keep them from recommending the book to others since “numerous readers, who had gone to this chapter with their struggles, came to my words and proceeded no further. My words had kept them from God’s words. That, to me, is a pretty serious stumbling block.”
This makes me wonder how many people who struggled with “another” of the “deadly sexual assault of the evil one” and also came to her words about those other sins and proceeded no further so that her words kept them from God’s words and that too would have to be a pretty serious stumbling block.
In order to be consistent, she will have to delete everything she wrote about every sexual sin and, in fact, any and every sin since those struggling with any sin could also stop reading at any given point, etc. This is where her self-censorship will fall apart—more as we progress.
She also notes, “I also heard from some heartbroken mothers about their kids who were having a hard enough time feeling ostracized as it was…Picture a 13 year old struggling with an onslaught of sexual feelings and temptations who has no idea what to do with them. The child picks up the book and reads my words, only, in this case, comes to the conclusion that he or she is particularly demonic. Not only is that devastating to the child. It is not even biblical.”
Very well then but what if Beth Moore heartbroken mothers about a 13 year old struggling with an onslaught of any sort of sexual feelings and temptations of the normal or abnormal sort only to find that Moore referred to various sexual sins as “particularly demonic”: one of the various “deadly sexual assault of the evil one” about which “Satan shame[s]” them?
She assures us, “I hold firmly to a traditional Christian sexual ethic and continue to believe the Bible sets apart marriage as a covenant between a man and a woman. But I also believe that Scripture clearly teaches that all sex outside of marriage is contrary to God’s will.”
I am flummoxed as to why she would write “But” but, be that as it may: there you have it, if you are an adulterer, pedophile, etc., etc., etc. then you can write to her, complain and she will, apparently, delete those portions from her book.
Beth Moore states that “what I no longer have the stomach for after the last several years” includes “the hypocrisy burgeoning from hyper fundamentalist Christianity” whatever that is supposed to mean, and also, “I do not lack a Scriptural view of sin. I just believe in a longer list of serious sins than some.”
She ends by quoting:
“Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God” (Galatians 5:19-21).
I wonder if by “the hypocrisy burgeoning from hyper fundamentalist Christianity” she refers to how she was then unable to write about sexual sins without peppering it with Satanic imagery. The solution would have been quite simple: establish the premise early on in the book and then write thereafter upon that premise.
Yes, in any case, she claims to juxtapose God’s words versus her own.
Beth Moore wrote that among other “deadly sexual assault[s]” was homosexuality and such is the biblical case. For example, too bad that she did not end her article with this quote:
“…do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men
nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the LORD Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God” (1 Corinthians 6:9-11).
Beth Moore also wrote, “complete transformation is possible” and did you note that the text just quoted states that “such were” past tense “some of you”?
And what of “I have witnessed it with my own eyes. I know plenty of believers who have been set free from homosexuality”? Of course she has and I can name one for starters: Joe Dallas.
